The Support Centre operates to fulfil Christian Community Action’s mission to show God’s love by meeting people’s practical needs and to increase their self-worth.

Everyone who is on income-based benefits is entitled to register as a Support Centre client, and to obtain furniture and other household necessities (eg. bedding and kitchen packs) at Support Centre prices.

Support Centre staff can also provide information on other support services within the Reading area.

Each of CCA’s charity shops offer support centre services. Just pop in or call to see if we can help you.

To find your nearest shop site visit our Charity Shops page.

Visits are available by appointment only. Please email support@ccam.org.uk or phone 0118 951 2337 to speak to our team.

The support centre is open 5 days a week Monday to Friday 10:00 – 4:00pm.

Clients will be given appointments upon request and meeting places will be arranged.

Clients can be referred or self refer.

If a client self refers then they need to be on benefits on a low income. They are assessed and then placed into two categories.

Category A

Crisis – Moving into empty accommodation. This is where they then have access to the support centre.

Category B

Non Crisis – For those on benefits who have been in their homes for over a year can receive 20% off furniture in our furniture shop. Customers must show proof of benefits before they can receive this discount.

Agencies

Agencies can refer to CCA on behalf of their clients.

A – The agency pays

B – The agency refers them to us and they register to become our client and pay for items themselves.
